Teknoware Finland

Teknoware’s factory in Finland is filled with environmentally friendly technology

Our company roots are in Lahti, Finland, where our group headquarters and largest production facilities are located. Teknoware started operations in Lahti in 1972 and our very first factory began operation in 1973. In 1977, we moved to our current location. Over the years, we have expanded and upgraded our production facilities several times to better serve our customers. The Teknoware Group’s HR and marketing teams are also based in our Lahti offices.

Teknoware’s most recent factory expansion in Lahti increased the production and office space by 4,500 m2. The new building is dedicated to manufacturing LED lighting and lighting electronics using the latest, modern technology and machinery, and has been in full operation since summer 2016. The products manufactured in our Lahti factory are destined for global markets, for both vehicle and emergency lighting customers.

The investment in our production facilities in Finland, combined with the use of highly automated machinery, ensures fast deliveries for products with high volumes, as well as seamless production of products with small and medium volumes. It also makes it possible to quickly expand production capacity in the future too. The factory expansion further enhanced the quality of our products, with climate controlled storage facilities, and automated testing systems.

The modern facilities are equipped with an environmentally friendly, geothermal heating and cooling system, designed to keep the temperatures in the premises constantly at comfortable levels. All the lighting in the new building uses the latest LED technology, controlled by sensors and timers, thus offering further savings in energy consumption. Electric cars have also been taken into account, by adding EV charging stations in the parking area. Renewable energy, produced by wind turbines and certified by EECS RES-GO, is used in all Teknoware premises in Lahti, including the older buildings and factories. This helps reduce the overall carbon footprint of Teknoware, as well as that of its products.

To complement our Lahti facilities, Teknoware also established a research and development centre in Oulu, in northern Finland, in 2021. Oulu was a natural choice for an R&D centre because the city has a university and other education facilities that meet our needs. The city is also home to a large pool of experts with competence in electronics and software engineering.

As of January 2026, in Finland, our Rail and Bus & Coach businesses operate as Teknoware Rail&Road Oy, and our Emergency Lighting business operates as Teknoware Emergency Lighting Oy, while Teknoware Oy is the Group’s parent company.
