Innovative solutions, strong engineering expertise, and highly automated production—Teknoware’s factory in Finland combines decades of experience with a continuous drive to remain at the forefront of technology.
Teknoware’s worldwide headquarters and its largest production facilities are located in Lahti, Finland, where the company was founded in the 1970s. Operations cover both lighting and interior solutions for public transportation vehicles, as well as emergency lighting systems for buildings and cruise ships.
Today, Teknoware operates sales and production units on three continents, with the Finnish headquarters supporting the activities of the group’s international sites. The majority of Teknoware products are still designed, manufactured, and assembled in Finland. The entire process is managed in-house, from research and product development to testing, maintenance, and spare parts services.
A cornerstone of the Finnish factory—and of Teknoware as a whole—is its exceptionally strong expertise in electronics. The Lahti facility specialises in complex and demanding projects as well as technically challenging, innovative solutions.

The large, modern production facilities in Lahti have been expanded and upgraded several times over the years. The factory is equipped with the latest machinery and technologies, ensuring efficient and flexible production. Highly automated manufacturing processes enable reliable deliveries even for large production volumes, while automated testing systems help ensure consistently high quality.
In recent years, the Finnish site has increasingly been investing in environmentally friendly solutions, including solar panels and energy-efficient lighting systems. All electricity and district heating used at the Lahti factory are sourced from 100% renewable energy.
Projects delivered by Teknoware Finland can be found in public transportation vehicles around the world, with many notable projects in Finland and elsewhere in Europe, including Germany, France, and Spain. Teknoware emergency lighting solutions made in Lahti are also found all over the world in a wide range of buildings, including airports, hotels, and hospitals.
An experienced and innovative team in Finland
Approximately 260 professionals work for Teknoware in Finland across a wide range of functions and departments. The group’s headquarters is home to the group’s finance operations as well as its human resources and marketing teams.
Product development brings together mechanical designers, electronics engineers, and software developers. In addition to Lahti, research and development activities are carried out in Oulu. The Oulu unit specialises in demanding rolling stock lighting solutions and intelligent emergency lighting systems.
Sustainability is strongly reflected throughout Teknoware’s operations worldwide. The Finnish companies’ charitable initiatives focus on supporting the local community in the Lahti region. The parent company collaborates with local schools and educational institutions and has provided financial support to a range of community initiatives, including the children’s ward of the central hospital.
