Teknoware has published its 2023–2024 Sustainability Report, which outlines the company’s progress in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.

Better World, Better Products
Sustainability is one of Teknoware’s core values, integrated into both its strategic vision and daily operations. Teknoware’s sustainability strategy centres on the theme “A Better World and Better Products,” emphasizing innovation that reduces environmental impact while enhancing product performance and customer value.
“Sustainability is more than an obligation; it’s a guiding principle that shapes our decisions and drives our innovation,” said Kai Kauto, President of the Teknoware Group. “We are proud of the progress we’ve made and remain committed to continuous improvement. Our actions today are aligned with the global efforts towards building a better, healthier future for generations to come.”

Social Responsibility and Workplace Well-being
Teknoware’s sustainability efforts extend beyond products: success is not based solely on financial performance, but also on the company’s ability to care for the environment, its employees and society at large. The company has invested in employee well-being, diversity, and safety, achieving a low staff turnover rate of just 2% and offering comprehensive training and health benefits across its global sites.
Community engagement also plays a key role, with initiatives ranging from tree planting and school partnerships to donations supporting healthcare and youth programmes.
Other highlights from the report:
- Continued development of supplier sustainability evaluations
- Bronze Medal in the 2024 EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment, placing Teknoware in the top 35% of its sector.
- Launch of Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to support circular design and transparency.
- Introduction of Train-IQ®, a next-generation train lighting system that optimizes energy use and enhances passenger comfort.
“I am thrilled to join a company that views sustainability not just as a responsibility, but as an opportunity to innovate and grow,” said Katariina Koikkalainen, Sustainability Manager. “Our commitment to transparency and collaboration across the value chain is key to driving meaningful change.”

Looking Ahead
Teknoware is preparing to enhance its sustainability program in 2025, guided by a double materiality assessment conducted in 2024, and expanding its Scope 3 emissions reporting to better understand and reduce value chain impacts.
