Self-Contained System Technology
Self-Contained System Technology
In a self-contained system, each luminaire has its own backup power source—in the case of our self-contained luminaires, this is a supercapacitor or a battery, which makes self-contained luminaires particularly suitable for the emergency lighting needs of smaller sites.
By combining supercapacitor technology with our wireless AaltoCtrl remote monitoring, self-contained luminaires can be used for any size emergency lighting project. Such technologies also enable the use of modern emergency lights and emergency exit lights in large renovation projects without the need for additional cabling.
Our self-contained luminaires include the LumiTest functionality that monitors and tests the luminaires automatically and reliably.
Technical Solutions for Self-Contained Systems
Self-contained emergency lighting system with supercapacitors
A self-contained luminaire system with supercapacitors is a maintenance-free, durable and environmentally friendly solution for arranging the property’s emergency lighting. The supercapacitors do not contain any dangerous substances and can be recycled as WEEE. The temperature range of supercapacitors is -25°C…+35°C. All Escap luminaires come with an extended 12-year product warranty. In practice, Escap emergency exit lights and emergency lights are maintenance-free.
Self-contained emergency lighting system with batteries
A self-contained emergency lighting system with batteries is a simple and low cost way of implementing emergency lighting in a property. It is worth noting, however, that the lifetime of batteries is approximately half that of supercapacitors. A self-contained emergency lighting system with batteries is best suited for properties where the batteries can be easily replaced.
LumiTest
Our self-contained emergency lights include the LumiTest functionality that automatically monitors and tests the luminaire reliably (except for the no-test models). The operation of the luminaire and its light source are tested daily and the duration test is conducted every six months. Two indicator LEDs, one green and one red, indicate the status of the luminaire. A red LED indicates that the luminaire has a fault.
AaltoCtrl
The AaltoCtrl remote monitoring system enables wireless, centralised monitoring of self-contained lights. The system does not require data cabling between the luminaires, just the local power supply to the luminaires is sufficient.
Adaptive emergency lighting system
Our product selection also includes adaptive emergency exit lights, which can be used to implement a system that adapts in real time according to the nature of the danger and its location. People can, for example, be prohibited from following escape routes which have become dangerous. The purpose of the adaptive system is to speed up evacuation and increase evacuation safety. Ask our emergency lighting sales for more information.
Remote management for emergency lighting
Remote management of emergency lighting makes it easier to monitor a system by providing continuous, real-time data from the emergency lighting system, with all tests performed being saved in an electronic log. Centralised remote monitoring is available for both centrally supplied and self-contained lighting systems. The remote monitoring system can also be integrated as a part of a building management system.
