Teknoware USA has been awarded the option order for the M8 fleet manufactured by Kawasaki Rail Car Inc. M8 cars are electric multiple-unit cars, which are used on the New Haven Line of the Metro North Railway.
The option order consist of 60 additional cars. These cars are supplementing 405 M8 cars which have been introduced starting from 2006. Teknoware USA scope of supply includes all the interior lights, toilet lights, emergency lighting systems, exterior headlights, exterior marker lights, exterior auxiliary lights and exterior indicators for the trains. All products are to be manufactured in the Teknoware USA factory in Conway, South Carolina.
Deliveries will start late 2018 and last until the end of 2019. There are discussions of a possible option order of additional 34 cars, which would, if executed, extend the deliveries until 2020.
